Information You Send
If you contact us, you may provide a name, email address, and the substance of your message. We use that information to reply or address the request. Please do not send Social Security numbers, vital-record details, confidential addresses, payment-card data, or other sensitive information through an ordinary contact message.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most web services, the hosting and analytics systems may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages requested, referring page, and approximate visit time. This operational information helps keep the service secure, functioning, and understandable. It is not used to build a Hampton residents list.
How We Use Information
We use contact and technical information to operate the service, respond to messages, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, measure basic use, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell a visitor’s contact information as a directory product. We do not merge a visitor’s use of this reference with Hampton, Virginia, or archival public records.
Outside Links
The Hampton reference pages link to public offices, archives, portals, and other independent services. Their privacy practices, account rules, and record-access limits govern once you leave this service. Review the policy and instructions on the destination page before entering identity data, ordering a copy, or using a search form.
When Data Is Shared
We may use hosting, security, analytics, or communications providers that process information on our behalf. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, necessary to protect people or systems, or needed to investigate abuse. We do not disclose contact information to a records custodian merely because the visitor followed a Hampton resource link.
Security Practices
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for the limited information we hold. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Keep official-record request materials, identity documents, and payment information within the channels specified by the relevant Hampton or Virginia custodian.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is not intended to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal information through a contact channel, use the Contact page so we can review the request. Public-record restrictions for juvenile material remain controlled by the official custodian.
Your Virginia Privacy Options
Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code §§59.1-577 et seq., provides certain rights, subject to exemptions, to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of personal data, and opt out of certain processing. The statute generally provides a response period of 45 days, with one possible 45-day extension, and a right to appeal a denial within 60 days. Because this service keeps little visitor information, a request usually concerns a contact message or limited technical log. Use the Contact page to make that request. Requests to remove or alter a public record must go to its Hampton or Virginia custodian.
Changes to This Policy
We may revise this policy as service practices or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted here. Continued use after an update means the visitor accepts the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
